Friday 17/12

Happy birthday, sister!
Last day at work. Bruno and I take a cab to work, because walking around and taking combi's with a vacuum cleaner (for colleague), though funny, would not have been practical... . I finish up the last tidbits, say no to one partner organisation who wants me to do one last thing, finalise my backups (I now have copies of my 43 gigabytes of documents and pictures on 3 different hard drives, soon to be spread over 2 continents - how's that for security). Lunch time - one last lunch at the Bottom Drawer (their open chicken and mayo sandwiches are 'just' great), with Celina. Then back to the office for the very last hours. The "ok, I think I'm really done here" feeling trickles in. I make a plan to bring back the laptop I've been using to partnerorganisation CTDT, and say goodbye to Memory, our fantastic administrative assistant and Luk.

4.30 - very last training with Shaun and Vivien. Shaun measures me for the last time, and as it turns out, I've nicely progressed on various muscles :-). After stretching, they give me a little present - they're so nice.

The plans for the night are taking shape: Marcel drops by for a drink, he brings us to Red Bar and from there we end up in Amanzi where the MercyCorps crew has taken over the bar... . Chuck and I have a really nice chat about fatherhood. Too bad we're both leaving the country soon, I would have liked to spend more time with him and his wife.
